About

I was born and raised in Quetta, Pakistan. From a young age, I was fascinated by art and the process of artistic creation. Fashion soon became the perfect means for my expression of art and structural design.

I studied at the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design, and with a specialty in French Contour, earned credentials at the L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndical de la Couture in Paris.

My retail fashion career began developing retail brands in Pakistan leveraging collaborations between local and foreign, mainly Chinese-based, manufacturers.

During this time I was fortunate enough to collaborate on projects for internationally acclaimed brands including the Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nautica.

My next chapter

After almost eight years in the industry, in 2015, I moved to Vancouver, Canada.

My initial work here involved exploring my personal label and showcasing for two seasons at the esteemed Vancouver Fashion week, with my work receiving accolades from Vogue UK, Elle, and Glamour.

From 2017 to 2023 I led a team of designers, artists, and product gurus at EdwardsX, a leading provider of custom uniforms and apparel to many of North American largest companies. There, I spearheaded the exploration of brand guidelines, proposed collections, forecasted trends, and sought out reliable sourcing

Finding my purpose

I have a passion for researching and initiating sustainable, inclusive design methods within my diverse supply chain network that stretches from Pakistan and Bangladesh to China, Africa, and the Americas.

Earning sustainable practices certifications from Harvard Business School and Cambridge University,

I have gained expertise in circularity and in sustainable business strategies that support an inclusive, integrated, and circular global economy.

My world today

Embodying my firm belief in women’s empowerment and gender equality, I have mentored and led various teams of professionals and throughout my career. I currently serve as director for the Pakistan Western Canadian Trade Association and am an enthusiastic member of the Pakistani Canadian Women’s Society.

I feel strongly about safeguarding the rights and development for children and youth worldwide, and am proud to have volunteered with SOS Children’s Village for over 20 years.

I eagerly stay ahead of the latest high street fashion trends, and my work in teams and as a mentor for aspiring fashion enthusiasts brings great joy and fulfillment to my life.

When not immersed in the world of fashion, my creative spirit is rejuvenated through solace in nature and in spending quality time with my supportive family, a treasured priority in my life who never cease to inspire me.
